MARCH 19-20, 2010

Cornerstone III
You are invited!
You are Welcome!

What is Cornerstone?
The Cornerstone Retreat provides a concentrated atmosphere for members of St. Bartholomew the Apostle and Immaculate Heart of Mary parishes to revitalize their relationship with God. It is an invitation to engage in quiet reflective time; to become more actively involved in one's spiritual development; and a time to meet new parishioners. In doing so, it enhances the building of community. Cornerstone is an effective renewal process calling together members of the parish (priests, religious and laity) to experience personal conversion and Christian Community in the environment of our parish setting. There are opportunities for prayer, reflection, talks, small group discussion, and the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.

When is Cornerstone? March 19 & 20, 2010
The Men’s Cornerstone III is a 26-hour weekend retreat which starts on Friday evening and ends on Saturday evening with a family liturgy.

Where is Cornerstone?
The retreat is held at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church.

A Personal Reflection
Cornerstone has been a growing experience on my life’s journey. It gave me an opportunity to get away from the hustle & bustle of the day-to-day; step back and get perspective on my life. I look on it now as a 26 hour gift to myself. It’s like the old adage about the woodsman coming out of the forest to sharpen his axe. If he never does that, the axe gets dull and no matter how hard he swings it, it just won’t cut.

Cornerstone also provided the quiet time I needed to hear the Lord speaking to me. It allowed me to listen to Him.

Thanks to the Cornerstone experience, I now know many other parishioners a whole lot better. ‘Strangers’ that I have seen at mass for years each Sunday and didn’t know are now friends. I have even gotten to know some old friends a whole lot better and on a higher level. As Catholic men, we share a common faith and common beliefs. Before my Cornerstone experience I was reluctant to actually share my faith with others. However, I am now much more comfortable with my faith beyond my own personal space with God.

The Church is strengthened by Cornerstone. Like the strands of a rope are stronger when united together, we too are stronger together than we can ever be on our own, individually. Consider joining the experience this March. I am glad that I did!
