FEAST OF ST. BARTHOLOMEW THE APOSTLE
As the church celebrates the Feast of St. Bartholomew the Apostle on Tuesday, August 24th, I wish to thank you – the wonderful people of this parish – for your presence in my life. Your example of Christian discipleship, Christian stewardship – that is, the giving of your time, talent and treasure has made me a better person and a better priest.
So many of you, quietly and faithfully go about doing God’s work from week to week, helping our church’s programs and ministries flow smoothly and effectively. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude for your dedication and outstanding work. Even after serving you as Pastor for five years, I still feel overwhelmed at the generosity of your hearts.
I promise that I shall do my best to continue to shepherd you and love you. I am aware that although being a Pastor is certainly a position of honor, it is primarily a position of sacred trust. This is not because of the leadership itself, but because the people are sacred people. I have always maintained that the people of God that make up this parish are a sacred people.
Recognizing that sound pastoral leadership is formed by the wisdom of the People of God, I am appointing the following parishioners, beginning on the Feast of St. Bartholomew the Apostle, to the following councils:
